The Department of Education and Skills has confirmed that Gael-Choláiste an Phiarsaigh is to be located in Loretto Abby, Rathfarnham and that the school is to open in the building in September 2014.

Joe Mac Suibhne has been appointed as school principal. Joe is currently principal of Coláiste Cillian in Clondalkin.

“I would like to thank the founding committee, the board of management and the school patron, An Foras Pátrúnachta, for the work they have done.

Sport, music and debating will be part of school life here. There will be fairness in this school. Pupils will be shown respect and their differences will be celebrated.

“There will be a very strong link between the provision of subjects and the number of students in the school. We need to have students registered to secure teachers.”

Caoimhín Ó hEaghra, General Secretary of An Foras Pátrúnachta, siad that the school patron is delighted with the building.

“There will be some renovation work to be done. The school will start out in the central part of the building and will grow out from there,” he said.

Applications for 2014/2015 will be accepted until March 19th. Applications for 2015/2016 will be accepted until September.
