Good news for Gaelscoil Chnoc na Ré! The Department of Education have tested the demographics and permission has been given to take in a second stream in September.
Gaelscoil Chnoc na Ré opened in 1996 to meet the demand for Irish-medium primary education in Sligo. There were 22 children enrolled in the first class and 192 now attend the school.
The school principal, Mícheál Ó Broin said: “We are delighted with the result of the Department’s review. It is a great result for the school community and for parents who had chosen a Gaelscoil education for their children.”
