25/7/14 Make a video for World Teachers’ Day 2014!

An Foras Pátrúnachta / Important Announcements / 25/7/14 Make a video for World Teachers’ Day 2014!

Every October, the global teaching community celebrates World Teachers’ Day. This year, teachers in Ireland will come together to celebrate at FÉILTE, the Festival of Education in Learning and Teaching Excellence. This event is organised by the Teaching Council.

To join the celebration, the Teaching Council wants to hear from you, no matter where you are in the world!

Send The Teaching Council a short video in which you tell us why teaching should be celebrated, e.g., because of great teachers you had in the past; because of the importance of teaching; because of what you believe makes a great teacher or great teaching….

The Teaching Council will be putting contributions from teachers together in one video which will be launched at FÉILTE in Dublin on Saturday 4 October 2014.

What to include in your video

1. Your video should be between 10 and 20 seconds long. This is the same as about 3 sentences at most. The clips cannot exceed this length as we want to include as many as possible on the day.

2. Please submit the video in English or Irish or both.

3. You can include a friend in the video with you, but remember that the clip cannot be any longer than 20 seconds.

4. As examples, you might like to answer one of the following:

  • Why do teachers matter?
  • What words describe a good teacher?
  • Why did you decide to become a teacher?
  • What is your favourite thing about being a teacher?
  • Why do you love teaching?
  • Who is/was your favourite teacher and why?
  • How to send the video

You can upload the video to the Teaching Council’s website. Click on this link for more information:
