The Minister for Education and Skills, Jan O’Sullivan T.D., today announced that additional funding of €55,000 is being provided to support the delivery of anti-bullying training sessions for parents in 2014. This is on top of the €60,000 announced earlier this year and brings the 2014 allocation to a total of €115,000.

The Anti-Bullying Parent Training Programme is being run jointly by the National Parents Council Primary (NPC-P) and the National Parents Council Post Primary (NPC-PP) to support the implementation of the Action Plan on Bullying which called for training and resources for parents and boards of management.

In 2013, funding of €60,000 supported the delivery of 105 anti-bullying parent training sessions to 3,279 parents nationwide. It is expected that the funding in 2014 will allow more than 200 sessions to be organised throughout the country.

Feedback from the sessions organised to date has been very positive. Parents who attended the training sessions said that they felt that the training had given them more confidence in supporting their child with a bullying issue and in engaging with their school if a bullying incident arose. The Parents Councils have also developed an information leaflet for parents who attend the sessions and these can be downloaded from their websites. Click here for more information.

Tá sé fógartha ag an Aire Oideachais agus Scileanna, Jan O’Sullivan T.D., go bhfuil an Roinn Oideachais ag cur maoinithe breise de €55,000 ar fáil chun tacú le seisiúin oiliúna sa frithbhulaíocht a chur ar fáil do thuismitheoirí in 2014.

Tá sé seo mar bhreis ar an €60,000 a fógraíodh níos luaithe i mbliana, rud a fhágann go bhfuil iomlán de €115,000 leithdháilte do 2014.Tá an Clár Oiliúna sa Frithbhulaíocht do Thuismitheoirí á reáchtáil ag an gComhairle Náisiúnta Tuismitheoirí – Bunbhrainse agus ag an gComhairle Náisiúnta Tuismitheoirí (Iarbhunoideachas) i gcomhar lena chéile chun tacú le cur i bhfeidhm an Phlean Aicsin um Bulaíocht. Iarrtar sa Phlean Aicsin go gcuirfí oiliúint agus acmhainní ar fáil do thuismitheoirí agus boird bainistíochta.

In 2013, baineadh úsáid as maoiniú de €60,000 chun tacú le seachadadh 105 seisiún sa frithbhulaíocht do thuismitheoirí do 3,279 tuismitheoir ar fud na tíre. Táthar ag súil go mbeifear in ann breis is 200 seisiún a eagrú ar fud na tíre leis an maoiniú in 2014. Tá aiseolas an-dearfach faighte ó na seisiúin a eagraíodh go nuige seo. Dúirt tuismitheoirí a d’fhreastail ar na seisiúin oiliúna gur bhraith siad go raibh féin-mhuinín níos fearr acu agus iad ag tacú lena gclann le fadhb bulaíochta nó ag dul i dteagmháil leis an scoil dá mbeadh teagmhas bulaíochta i gceist.

Tá bileog eolais forbartha ag na Comhairlí Tuismitheoirí chomh maith do thuismitheoirí a fhreastalaíonn ar na seisiúin agus is féidir iad seo a íoslódáil ó na suíomh gréasáin acu. Brúigh anseo chun tuilleadh eolais a fháil.
