Over 120 people took part in the 5km race organised by Kildare towns new Gaelscoil, Gaelscoil Mhic Aodha.

A race and fun day fundraiser was held on Sunday 13 April 2014 in aid of the school.

Norma Ní Chonchúir (below, right), principal of the school said it was an excellent day for everyone involved.

“Thank you all so much for supporting our school,” she said.

“It was a great day all round. The children really enjoyed it and the parents committee did a great job!”


Gaelscoil Mhic Aodha is located in the former vocational school building in Kildare Town. The school has been established for nearly a year now. Last September the school opened its doors with 13 junior infants.

The school has also just launched its website! Norma Ní Chonchúir said: “We are absolutely delighted that our website is live. A friend of the school, Alan Stafford, designed it for us and we are very proud of all of the work that has gone into it. We are looking forward to adding to it and putting up the school’s stories soon.”
