An Foras Pátrúnachta are delighted to announce that Aoife Elster has been appointed as principal for Coláiste Ghiór na Mara.
Coláiste Ghlór na Mara is the new Gaelcholáiste set to open in Balbriggan, Co. Dublin, in September 2014.
Aoife is originally from Dublin and attended Scoil Lorcáin and Coláiste Íosagáin.
Currently residing in a Stradbally, Co. Laois, Aoife spent a period of time teaching in Gaelscoil Phortlaoise before moving to Gael-Choláiste Chill Dara when it was first established.
‘’My time spent in Kildare was very beneficial to me and I have truly enjoyed every moment. I am now looking forward to taking up a new challenge in North Dublin,’’ said Aoife.
“It is an amazing to be part of a new school from the beginning. The founding committee and the school patron, An Foras Pátrúnachta, have done fantastic work to bringing the Coláiste together and to make it happen.
“This shows the interest in the area in the language and in culture. It also shows the energy of the local community in relation to Irish medium education.
“It is clear that there is a strong Irish language community present in this area judging by the number of Gaelscoileanna founded in the area over the past few years.
“It is a great privilege for me to be part of the founding of a second level school and to build on the great work which has been done until now.”
