Gaelscoil na Mí in Ashbourne, Co. Meath ar the proud winners of Gradam na Scoileanna 2014 for the best and most active celebration of Seachtain na Gaeilge 2014.
As first place winners, the school received a €300 voucher for the Irish bookshop, An Siopa Leabhair, 6 Harcourt Street, Dublin 2.
Gaelscoil Riabhach won first place for their radio programme entry. Malik Alimi from Gaelscoil Bhaile Brigín won 4th prize in the blogging competition, 5-6th class and Sháhín Houshidari from Gaelscoil Bhrian Bóroimhe won 4th prize in the the poetry competition, 5-6th class.
60 individual prizes have been won by young people from every corner of Ireland and Europe.
Brenda Ní Ghairbhí, Bainisteoir Sheachtain na Gaeilge said: “We congratulate Gaelscoil na Mí, all the winners and everyone who took part in the competitions. It was obvious from the amount and high standard of the entries that Seachtain na Gaeilge is encouraging young people all over the country to use the Irish language in new and creative ways.
“We owe a big thanks to teachers and schools all over the country for the work that they put in to celebrating the festival and for the encouragement they give their students.”
